Each destination country has its own import regulations for personal effects. We provide the relevant customs forms with every quote and guide you through the documentation.
What determines the cost of an overseas move
There is no flat rate for an overseas move — the price of a shipment to Bangkok, New York or Sydney is built from a handful of factors. Understanding them makes it easy to compare quotes and to keep your own costs down.
Volume, not weight
Sea freight for household goods is charged by the cubic metre you occupy in the container. With shared containers (groupage) you pay only for your own volume instead of a whole container — which is why a few boxes and a bedroom cost a fraction of a full household.
Destination & routing
Port pairing and vessel routing differ per destination. Well-served lanes such as the US East Coast, Canada, Thailand or Australia have regular groupage departures, so waiting time and cost stay low; less frequented ports need longer consolidation.
Services at both ends
Professional packing, dismantling and reassembly, carrying distances, lift or shuttle vehicles and storage are quoted per move. Packing yourself (self packing) is the simplest way to reduce the total.
Customs, duties & insurance
Destination customs clearance, import duties or taxes and optional all-risk transport insurance are shown separately in every quote, so you always see what is included.
